Yesterday was a big day for Rihanna. The Barbadian singer was named Puma‘s Brand Ambassador and Creative Director of the women’s training division. According to Women’s Wear Daily (via Harper’s Bazaar), the seven-figure deal will see Rihanna designing apparel, footwear and accessories for the German sportswear brand beginning in Spring 2015. Puma’s CEO, Bjorn Gulden, had this to say:
“Her global profile, her charisma and individuality, her ambition – all these things make her a perfect ambassador for our brand. With a strong portfolio in football, running and motorsport, finding an inspiring partner for women’s training was very important. Rihanna was a natural choice for us. We’re delighted to have her as a partner, and we’re looking forward to what’s to come.”
Any regular reader of this blog will know that her sneaker collection is quite large so this deal is exciting. Her previous collections with River Island and Armani did very well but Rih will have a lot more creative control and responsibility with Puma. This collaboration will certainly increase Puma’s profile globally and expose her legions of fans to the athletic brand.
Rih flew all the way to Puma headquarters in Germany for the big announcement. Her look was definitely one that only she could pull off as it comprised multiple strands of white pearls, a satin bustier, sweatpants and sneakers. Here’s a little of what she wore.
Rihanna’s cream jacket is actually a cardigan. It’s Saint Laurent‘s waffle knit mohair cardigan, which has a gold zip front closure and a fox fur-trimmed hood. The shoes are from the brilliant minds over at Mr Completely. In order to create these creepers they added a 1.5″ platform sole to the upper from Puma sneakers. Unfortunately, they have only created custom Pumas for Rihanna but you can visit their online store for a look at their other shoes. Finally, Rih sported a new necklace from Inez & Vinoodh. Earlier this year she fell in love with their Tahitian white pearl necklace. This time she chose their black leather necklace, which features the designers’ signature interlocking hoops (they represent the couple’s wedding bands), an 18k gold star charm and a 0.2kt jewel.

The inaugural Diamond Ball was held last night on the sprawling grounds of The Vineyard in Beverly Hills. The annual event was created to raise funds for the Clara Lionel Foundation. The foundation is a charitable organisation established in honour of the singer’s grandparents and it raises funds for cancer treatment as well as education, arts and culture. This is a cause that is very dear to Rihanna’s heart. The Diamond Ball was attended by the top echelon of Hollywood and guests included Brad Pitt and Salma Hayek. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel played the role of host throughout the night and there was an auction and a special performance by Rihanna herself. Here’s a look at what the lady of the moment wore.
On the red carpet Rihanna looked beautiful in a gown by Zac Posen. The rose-coloured, mermaid dress, which is from the Fall/Winter 2014 collection [look 17], has a v neckline and off-the-shoulder sleeves. Manolo Blahnik‘s classic BB pumps in dark pink suede ($595) complemented her dress. In Rihanna’s right ear she wore Repossi‘s an triple row ear cuff with pavé white diamonds Repossi from the Berbère collection. Rih also rocked some outstanding pieces by Chopard. These included a diamond necklace with an exceptional 123ct pear-shaped rubellite, a 21ct ruby cuff, and a pear-shaped rubellite ring with tulip detail. Both the ring and necklace are from the 2012 Red Carpet Collection and you can take a closer look at them below. Contact Chopard via their website if you are interested in purchasing. UK-based nail technician Jenny Longworth was responsible for the acid green nails that Rihanna rocked at the British Fashion Awards. That colour was such a spectacular choice for the evening and everyone wanted the scoop. Luckily, Jenny shared the details of the manicure with ASOS so you can get the look.
The Revlon UK ambassador layered two coats of Revlon’s In The Money polish from the ColorStay Gel Envy collection over one coat of Revlon’s Nail Enamel in White on White. In a previous nail post, I told you that white polish is usually used as a base for bright colours like this neon green and that’s exactly why Jenny used it for this manicure. Revlon is readily available at drug stores and beauty stores worldwide but you can also find these polishes online. Take a look at the links below.

- Revlon Nail Enamel in White on White – available at Amazon.com ($13) and Boots UK (£7)
