Last night Rihanna revealed the artwork for her eight studio album and also announced the long-anticipated title during an event held at MAMA gallery in Los Angeles. Before we talk about the fashion, let’s talk about the album, which is called Anti. Press and dedicated fans were invited to a special viewing of artwork that was created by artist Roy Nachum. Nachum is a fantastic artist who uses Braille, the colour red, blindfolds, gold crowns, and other symbols throughout his work. You may have noticed that Rihanna included Braille on all of her single covers this year and that was all done in collaboration with Nachum. Check out the album cover below.
Anti‘s cover was inspired by a photo of Rihanna that was taken on her first day of daycare (in Barbados we call it nursery school). The Braille in the background of the painting is the translation of a poem by Chloe Mitchell entitled If They Let Us and it’s one of the Barbadian singer’s favourite poems. According to a press release, the Braille will be inscribed on the album so that blind listeners will actually be able to touch and read it. Pretty cool! Head over to Rihanna Daily to learn more.
Rihanna, who was styled by her assistant creative director Jahleel Weaver, showed up in a black coat and short slip dress by Chrome Hearts. The coat bears an all over print featuring the brand’s logo. The slip dress has a v neckline and thin straps that crisscross in the back. Some of her jewellery is also by the brand.
