On Saturday Rihanna appeared on the 40th season finale of Saturday Night Live. While there she performed her two newest singles – Bitch Better Have My Money and American Oxygen. She was styled by Mel Ottenberg and his team. Here’s a look at what she wore during the show including the “bumper shots” that appear before and after commercial breaks.
Let’s start with these bumper photos taken before the show. Rihanna wore a vintage head scarf, which is her favourite accessory of the moment, with Jennifer Fisher‘s 3″ square hoops ($275) and a Lynn Ban black diamond ear cuff and rings. The amazing coat is from Vetements‘ Fall/Winter 2015 collection [Look 6]. The coat has an oversized fit, a large collar and tortoiseshell buttons. Vetements is an under-the-radar brand that has been making a splash in the fashion industry of late. The fall collection was only their third presentation.
The Barbadian first performed Bitch Better Have My Money with a cameo from her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales. Ottenberg selected a look from Giovanna Flores‘ graduate collection for the Pratt Institute, which doubles as the young designer’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Rih and Mel have always championed emerging designers and hopefully Flores will benefit greatly from the exposure. This look comprised a boxy denim shirt and matching cuffed denim pants with contrast stitching.
Here the singer sported another vintage scarf, a Napier necklace from Era Luxe (an appointment-only source for vintage designer jewellery), a snake necklace by Lynn Ban, rings and earrings from Munnu the Gem Palace and rings by Arman Sarkisyan.
Next Rih sang American Oxygen in an all black outfit. The fringed leather shirt is another piece from Vetements‘ Fall/Winter 2015 collection [Look 25]. I actually bookmarked this piece a couple months ago in the hope that she would wear it! Mel paired the jacket with black pants by Giorgio Armani.
Finally, Rihanna appeared at the end of the show in a jacket from Valentino‘s Fall/Winter 2015 menswear collection [Look 30]. The long denim jacket has a white zipper and two front pockets. Underneath she wore a Rag & Bone zipped tank top ($220) with the same Armani pants from her performance. Take a closer look at some of these pieces below.
