Maria Salandra, Rihanna’s New York-based manicurist, was chosen to work with the singer again on the FourFiveSeconds music video and she talked about the nails she did for the singer. Salandra created a French manicure using two gel polishes by Gelish and one by China Glaze. She painted the base of Rih’s nails with Sweet Dreams, which is a sheer milky polish with a little iridescence. The nail tech then swiped a white China Glaze polish across the tips (try White on White) before polishing the entire nail with Gelish’s Simple Sheer. This polish has the slightest hint of pink and it’s great for these kinds of manicures. Gelish is only carried in salons so visit their website to learn more.
Although the French manicure has not been very popular in recent years, it’s been making a comeback. Going with an almond-shaped nail like Rihanna’s in the video prevents the manicure from bringing up any unpleasant memories of the early 2000s.
