The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala may not be a competition but Rihanna was certainly a winner. The 2017 Met Gala honours Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons and Rihanna stayed true to the theme. Her longtime stylist Mel Ottenberg (they make a perfect team!) selected a look straight from the runway. On a night where most were afraid to step out of the box, it was refreshing to see the superstar in this avant garde piece.
This floral dress is from the Fall/Winter 2016 collection [Look 1]. It features an asymmetrical hem, a high neckline and lots of ruffles. There are also some cut outs at the front.
Dsquared2 named the Riri sandal (pictured above in gold) after Rihanna and she has several pairs in different colours. For the Met Gala she rocked a custom red pair embellished with crystals. The shoes boast a back zip closure and laces that go up the thighs.
The Barbadian beauty recently teamed up with Chopard for two jewellery collections so of course she wore a few pieces from the brand. These included a pair of flower earrings and a diamond watch from the “Rihanna Loves Chopard” Haute Joaillerie collection, which debuts at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
