Rihanna in Maison Margiela by John Galliano at Met Gala 2018

Rihanna Met Gala 2018 Maison Margiela John Galliano dress, Stephen Jones Millinery hat, Christian Louboutin pumps, Judith Leiber clutch, Cartier necklaceRihanna once again took over the red carpet at the Met Gala tonight (May 7.) The music superstar and business mogul is one of the co-chairs of this year’s event along with international lawyer Amal Clooney and iconic fashion designer Donatella Versace. The theme of the 2018 Met Gala is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” There must have been so much pressure on Rihanna and her longtime stylist Mel Ottenberg to create a look that met the high standards they set at previous Met Balls but they did not disappoint.

The Barbadian beauty donned a Maison Margiela by John Galliano look. The stunning couture ensemble comprised a stunning mini dress with a sweetheart neckline, a skirt with a slit at the front and a jacket. In a red carpet interview with Vogue, Rih admitted that the outfit was quite heavy and that it required multiple fittings before it all came together. The entire thing was hand-sewn right down to the crystal and pearl embellishment. Stephen Jones Millinery created the mitre, that’s the bishop’s hat she wore.
