Last night Rihanna attended the 2015 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in a beautiful Guo Pei coat but due to its massive size, she changed once she got inside. Of course, she was styled by Mel Ottenberg and his team. And what better to change into than a custom piece from her friend Stella McCartney. Rih wore a red bustier dress with a cinched waist and relaxed skirt.
All of her jewellery for the event was provided by Cartier and this look included a stunning emerald necklace, a gold, emerald and diamond ring, and two tiger bracelets (check out one of those below). She finished the look with black latex opera gloves (£48) by Atsuko Kudo, who uses mostly latex in their designs.
Rih then took to the stage for a killer performance that included her chart-topping hit Diamonds, an orchestral version of Pour It Up, and her latest single Bitch Better Have My Money. This time around she wore a vintage Chinese headpiece (the theme of the night was China: Through the Looking Glass) with a custom bustier by Maison Margiela by John Galliano and customised satin trousers from the brand’s Fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The singer also sported Cartier diamond earrings and custom red opera gloves by Cornelia James, who designed the gloves Rih wore for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show a few years ago.
Finally, Rihanna hosted the official after-party again this year. This time it was held at Up & Down nightclub and a few of her favourite rappers performed. She wore a sheer chiffon top and the same loose-fitting satin pants, both from Maison Margiela‘s Fall/Winter 2015 collection [Looks 22 and 30]. Her platform sandals are Christian Louboutin.
