Rihanna did two photo shoots for her new album ANTI – one for promotional purposes and one for the album booklet. Let’s take a look at what she wore for both. First up is the shoot she did in Paris in December 2014. This was shot by renowned photographer
Paolo Roversi and styled by
Alastair McKimm, i-D magazine’s fashion director. This photo shoot was done the same time as her
Spring 2015 i-D cover shoot. The photos have been used for single covers, ANTi World Tour promotional images, merchandise and more.
Here Rihanna wore a tuxedo jacket from
Schiaparelli Fall 2014 couture [Look 17] as a dress. The black jacket, which reaches to mid-thigh, has an oversize fit, sharp shoulders and a peaked lapel. Rih also wore the shirt and bow tie from the runway look. New Zealand singer
Lorde has been spotted in the full outfit. The styling of this photo has prompted many to speculate that the shoot was partially inspired by
Canary, a character in the anime
Hunter x Hunter.
In this shot the songstress wore a black jacket by
Jessica Walsh that was featured in the
Parsons MFA Spring 2015 collection [Look ]. Rihanna must have loved this jacket a lot because she kept it and wore it multiple times last year including to the
VFiles Fall 2015 fashion show. Everything about this coat is oversized, from the fit to the knit collar to the front pockets.
This photo was actually used for the
Bitch Better Have My Money single cover. Rihanna rocked a pair of
Dannijo earrings (more on those later) and a killer leather jacket by
Undercover. It was featured as part of Look 41 of the
Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The oversized motorcycle jacket (I sense a theme here) boasts silver hardware, a large collar, tassels and zips with ball chain pulls.
So about those earrings. Rihanna sported a pair of
Dannijo‘s
Gale chandelier earrings. The earrings were no longer available to purchase but the designer decided to bring them back after seeing the
BBHMM single cover. The handmade
Gale earrings are plated in oxidised silver and covered in Swarovski crystals They are about 6″ inches in length. You can purchase them right now from the
Dannijo website for the reduced price of $197.
The above photo was used as the single cover for Work. The singer donned a pair of cuffs by Jennifer Fisher, one of her favourite jewellers. These are the 14k gold-plated brass sleeve cuffs that were designed to look like double-button barrel shirt cuffs.
In this tour book image The Barbadian sipped some tea while wearing Adam Selman x Le Specs sunglasses. These are her favourite The Last Lolita sunnies in Matte Pearl. The sharp cat-eye shades were inspired by the classic Stanley Kubrick film.
Here’s another tour book image with Rihanna in a crazy denim jumpsuit from
Ashish‘s
Spring 2015 collection [Look 14]. The jumpsuit is designed to look like an oversized pair of distressed jeans and features jewel-encrusted sequin straps. All of designer Ashish Gupta’s pieces are handcrafted in India.
Rihanna doesn’t like to be labelled a role model for many reasons and the provocative star decided to have a little fun with the whole idea. This photo of her lounging in little more than a pair of Vetements boots from the Spring 2015 collection [Look 7] is printed on a tour t-shirt with the words “Role Model” spelt out in block letters. The slouchy thigh-high boots she wore have a thin heel and a photo is printed on the outside of the right boot. Here you can also spot the Jennifer Fisher cuffs mentioned earlier.
Update: Rihanna also wore a lace-trimmed, corseted dress from Thierry Mugler‘s Spring 1999 Haute Couture collection.
